Old Blue Jeans On

I'm depressed.

Really depressed.

The "can't find any cute jeans that fit even after trying on every pair at the mall and even though I really need new jeans" kind of depressed.

Yep, I've got a fever for jeans and absolutely no cure.

I've never loved my body, but most days I can accept it for what it is. Most days I can pick out a few things that are redeeming. But shopping for jeans is unlike most days. In fact, they rank among my worst days.

My legs are short and my rear is round. And no one out there decided to make jeans that would flatter such little valued characteristics.

I'm depressed.

Thankfully the weather is beautiful and it's almost 40 degrees today, or else I would be inconsolable.

My question is really, just who DO they make women's jeans for? I was just having this conversation with a bunch of girl friends. We were of all heights, shapes, and sizes and we all agreed that we can never find jeans that fit right.

I love shopping but avoid shopping for jeans like the plague. . .unless it's after consecutive months of serious running or a breakup. And then whatever I buy will end up being too small in a couple of months anyway, so it's pretty much futile. :)

april,

this is heather most (wade's wife) i got your link off of rebecca banners site. i am being a little nosy and checking out your blog. Have you tried lucky or buckle for Jeans? i hate looking for jeans as i am short and thick but i can always find jeans there that are flattering. the best part is that they alter the length for you. the worst part is that you pay out the nose for them but they fit! try it if you haven't before. the skinny jean being back is really not helping anyone. good luck with your search.

dearest april,

there is something about jean shopping that makes every woman (ok, all that i know) completely depressed and annoyed. things squeeze and pinch and look... odd... and it's exhausting to try them on!! i, too, am totally in the same predicament! if it's not size (which is almost always the issue), it's color. if it's not color, it's texture or shape or rise...SUCH a wretched experience! not to mention, once bought, that's no guarantee they'll fit after they're washed.

know that you're loved and not alone. boo for jeans!! how are jeans so amazing, but so heartbreaking at the same time? they're like boys. yes, jeans are like boys!! :)

April, I would tell you that I love your body, but that might come off a little weird. But remember the rule that I finally instigated in our apartment: for every disparaging thing you say about yourself, you must counterbalance it by something you love. Like how wonderfully soft and touchable your hair is. Wow, that came off weird anyway.

Oh, I hate shopping for jeans you know I buy them and take them back, and buy them and take them back and I have never found a pair that make me look smokin. but with that being said. . . You look great in what ever you wear don't be discouraged. You will find those jeans. and then you can put them on and Dance to the tune of "When I wake up in the morning light"

OK...I HATE shopping for jeans. I know just how you feel. I always end up with jeans that are WAYYYY too tight on the hips and but and then HUGE around my waist. Maybe we should start a line for REAL WOMEN!

So The Sweetheart fit at Old Navy fits me well and I have a rounded tushy and hips! Did you try those? Also, I am sure you are way too small for Lane Bryant jeans but my sister in law swears by them. She says they are made to fit women. Give that a shot but like I said they might be too big. Good luck. I hate jean shopping. It is always depressing!
